In the summer of 2003, the largest fish processing plant in Germany, and the newest in Europe, started operating in Sassnitz on the island Rügen. 150 jobs were created for this "factory of the future", as the plant was called in the specialised press.
The natural refrigerant NH3 is used in the refrigeration installations that are located in a separate power house. For the distribution of the cold air to the refrigerated warehouse and to the large storage and processing room, the environmentally friendly secondary refrigerant CO2 and the coolant propylene glycol are used.
For different application ranges and performance categories, 136 Güntner air coolers were provided. Güntner satisfied the demands with a high flexibility in manufacturing and just-in-time delivery and provided support for requirements for change at short notice. In consequence, the construction time of the refrigerating installation could be reduced to only nine months.
